Happy Holidays

Christmas shopping, West Main Street, 12.22.62
I hope everyone has a very, very happy holiday season. Endangered Durham will return on January 6, 2009.
"But hey ED, what did you get me?" you say?
Well, I did what I could - I finally fixed and updated the Big Map of Endangered Durham, also conveniently linked in the sidebar. This Google-based map allows ED browsing by geography, if you are so inclined.
For you Google Earth fans, you can download the full kml file and browse ED in Google Earth.

Happy Holidays to you, too! Enjoy the time off, but know that your fans are eagerly awaiting your return to ED.
I can see the Durham Herald headline now: "Suicide Rate Spikes in Durham over Holidays"; they'd say it was the holiday blues; I say it's lack of ED to read!
Happy Holidays! (And thanks for the present)
THANK YOU so much for your blog!! I would be interested to know if your voice has been heard by the decision makers in Durham! This town has soooo much potential and it has to be saved before its too late. There is a need for a paradigm shift in thinking about the cities future and development. Leah
The Google Earth KML works very nicely. Thanks Gary.

This is the Durham I remember growing up here. The City motto was "Durham City of Fine Stores" or something similar. Bought my first 45 rpm downtown at the Record Bar, gifts for friends at Kress, clothes at Sears, Thalheimers, Belk, and the Young Men's Shop. Loved to eat at Georges Pizza Palace or the S&W. All this and the pungent aroma of cured tobacco, heaven!
