Word has come in on the Endangered Durham Hotline that the Fireball White owned 1890s era frame store - the former City Ice Cream Parlor - at Little Five Points, (the corner of W. Corporation and N. Mangum) has been demolished. This is a very regrettable outcome - one the community fought for many years, hoping to see the the building (which has been characterized, and certainly will be characterized as "too far gone") be part of the revitalization of this collection of mostly early-20th century commercial structures.

Ironically, I took the below photo last week in beginning to talk about N. Mangum and how the way to revitalize a corridor in desperate need of revitalization was not by creating more vacant land.
