LAND USE, ARCHITECTURE, AND HISTORY IN DURHAM, NC
ED has moved to Open Durham. Please head that way!
ABC reporter Lou Davis aired a nice piece this weekend about TJ McDermott and his re-opening of King's sandwich shop (with an intro from yours truly.)
West Geer St.
Very cool! and here i thought your name was pronounced (k-oo-ber), not (k-ee-ber):)
Quite possible the best french fries I've ever eaten.
Indeed, (key-bur.) Like the cookies, without the l(ves)
I've watched the video 4 times now -- teary-eyed each time. Loved Mr. McDermott's line that King's "is bigger than a bldg., bigger than a restaurant. This is people's past." And he is a businessman with a big heart -- I hope he makes money hand over fist. Thanks to the ABC reporter for a wonderful piece, and to you, Gary, for posting it.
Great piece and nice to finally see your smiling face!
King's before a bulls game in the 1960s.....sweet!....
Kings brings back so many good memories of my dad and I going downtown on a Saturday and having a hotdog, fries and Pepsi. Thanks for bringing it back!!!
