Duke Forest area
Knollwood?
Knollwood is much later than '53. I recall a round roadhouse still on Chapel Hill Road at the Knollwood location in the later '50s. When my school bus would stop there each afternoon, an eerie light from the juke box would spill through the screen door. Given the relatively level terrain and the openness of the tract, I suspect that this land is much closer to Chapel Hill, perhaps somewhere in the vicinity of Blue Cross. Several communities were developed in that area in the '50s. Another possibility is the Shannon Road area that was displaced by the extension of University Drive.
